Bonsai enthusiasts from all-over Mindanao flocked in Midsayap, Cotabato. This was the first big event that took place in the municipality. It was held at Ka Kubo Garden Pension and Resto which was located in the heart of the Midsayap. More than 200 world-class bonsai entries were scrutinized by national and international Bonsai Masters which includes Japanese and Manila-based judges.

The event was materialized through the initiative of Marcel “Bebot” Calungsod, a renowned Bonsai Master who hailed in the said municipality. He himself is a well-knowned champion in several bonsai competitions local and abroad. He was one of the sought after lecturer in the art of bonsai not only in the national but in international competition as well.

It was one of the highlights of the foundation anniversary of the municipality of Midsayap, which draw much appreciation from the spectators. Competitors coming from different places all-over Mindanao expressed satisfaction in terms of accommodation, preparation and the hospitality extended by the family of Master Bebot Calungsod and with the support of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Midsayap and with the cooperation of the local organization Sayap Bonsai Society (SBS).
