Philippines ranked last in
Reading Comprehension, second to the last in Science and Mathematics in the
recent Program for International Student Assessment (PISA). The result seems a Nuclear Bomb that exploded and ended
every living thing in our country.
So many absurd remarks have been
stated most specially from the legislature and they suggested plans and actions
out of their own mind without even thinking about it or was consulted upon from
reliable persons.
Have they looked into the finest
details specifically on the front liners in the delivery of instruction—our
teachers. Their work should be in the classroom, facilitating the teaching and
learning. However, it’s been a practice ever since to utilize or give teachers
extra-curricular activities; in sports, academic competitions, socio-cultural
presentations from local up to national level. Most of them are coaching,
facilitating and officials of varied activities which are also in line with the
DepEd’s mandate.
Furthermore, Local Government Units also involve the teachers in some of there activities such as, civic parades, local fiestas, Christmas Presentation and other similar activities. In those events teachers usually spent some of there time in practicing, which would largely affect the contact time for their learners. This does not happen to all areas though.
