MINDANAO EARTHQUAKE AFTERMATH: MOST SCHOOLS WITHSTOOD THE BLOW

After Mindanao was hit by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake past 7 in the evening last October 17, 2019, Wednesday multi-sectoral agencies worked hand-in-hand to assess the damages caused by the quake, headed by the local government units.

Though, it was estimated that billions of pesos was lost due to damaged buildings, both public and private establishments. Gaisano Mall of Gensan, which was torched after the quake was estimated more than 2 billion pesos.

However, most schools withstood the calamity even those were built several of decades ago. In Koronadal City, there are about 4 schools that were badly damaged, some classrooms suffered tolerable cracks on the walls, but most of the classrooms withstood the blow even that most of them were built half a century ago.
