STRONGEST EARTHQUAKE IN THE LAST FOUR DECADES SHOOK MINDANAO

On the eve of October 16, 2019 several minutes past seven the Mindanaon residents were terrified by a strong earthquake. In Koronadal a total black-out was experienced while the quake is still going on. The few minutes later the after the electricity came back almost all the calamity was the subject of almost all news stations both local and national.

This was one of the strongest quake that hit Mindanao for the last four decades.  According to Phivocs Undersecretary Renato Solidum, it was recorded at about 6.3 in magnitude. Fire broke at Gaisano Mall in Gen. Santos City one of the largest mall in Mindanao. Several private and public buildings were damaged. Panic raised in crowded commercial establishments, residential communities and other establishments.  Though, this was not the strongest it affected almost the entire Mindanao, specifically Region XII, popularly known as SOCSSKSARGEN.
